Bridging adaptation action and research

Key insights from peer-to-peer learning across the Adaptation Research Alliance

How can we strengthen the links between research and practical action on climate change adaptation in the Global South? This new report provides case studies and lessons learnt by members of the Adaptation Research Alliance, including DIIS.

It is often said that researchers and practitioners should interact more to share knowledge and ensure that research is brought to use. But it is not always clear what the benefits are, how it can be enabled, and what the challenges are in practice.

This short report shares overall lessons, examples and challenges from 9 cases where researchers and practitioners have interacted in climate change adaptation in an attempt to help bring knowledge into action and policy.

The cases are especially focused on local level activities where researchers, communities, local governments, private sector actors and NGOs have sought to exchange and co-produce knowledge and planning for climate change adaptation.

The report was produced by the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), of which DIIS is a member. ARA is a global coalition committed to research on climate change adaptation in support of vulnerable communities and climate resilient futures.
