Exploring the Indo-Sino rivalry for Africa's oil

DIIS project researcher Luke Patey has written with a group of African, Indian and western commentators in the new book, India in Africa: Changing Geographies of PowerHis chapter, Fragile Fortunes: India’s oil venture into war-torn Sudan, provides a lucid and highly informative account of India's investments into Sudan's oil sector, demonstrating that, contrary to popular opinion, Chinese private and state-owned firms do not always out-compete their Indian rivals.

In the lead up to the recent Africa-India Summit in Addis Ababa, Luke Patey also spoke at length with one of India's leading financial newspapers, The Economic Times, on India's economic diplomacy in Africa. Find the full article here.
