The new DIIS report “Unpacking ‘new climate wars’: Actors and drivers of conflict in the Sahel” is written by Signe Marie Cold-Ravnkilde and Boubacar Ba. Focusing on the Mopti region of Mali, the report maps important armed actors and argues that violence and conflict are not caused by climate change but by the presence of armed groups, jihadist insurgencies and military interventions with diverging political and ideological agendas.
