Frameworks for climate change adaptation
Four new Working Papers examine the political and institutional frameworks for climate change adaptation in Nepal, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia:
- The climate change agenda in Zambia – National interests and the role of development cooperation
- Climate Change and Rural Institutions in Central Viet Nam
- Climate Change and Rural Institutions in Nepal
- Decentralization and implementation of climate change policy in Uganda
Each paper discusses the political context, the national policies and the organizational arrangements related to climate change adaptation in the four countries.
The papers also examine specific issues that influence climate change adaptation in each country. This includes the troubled legitimacy of the state in Nepal; the role of decentralization in Uganda; the social contract in Vietnam; and the relationship between aid and government interests in Zambia.
The papers were produced under the Climate Change and Rural Institutions research programme. For more information, please see the programme website.
