Security challenges in the Baltic region
The region experiences a much higher degree of tension than in the positive and peaceful decades following the end of the Cold War. Confidence-measures are cancelled, political rhetoric is more confrontational, the number and scope of military exercises have grown considerably and new weapon systems are being considered or have already been installed.
