The Belarus crisis 2020 and individual Nordic-Baltic reactions

A comparative report resulting from Baltic Sea research cooperation

This report assesses in detail the reactions of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden to the Belarus post-election crisis (in which big popular demonstrations were held against an allegedly rigged Presidential election). Although sanctions against Belarus were decided in the EU, it is instructive to see the nuances between individual Baltic Sea states’ positionings; reactions were the sharpest in the Baltic countries.

The report, coordinated by the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, is a result of cooperation between researchers from the above-mentioned countries. From Denmark participated Hans Mouritzen (DIIS) and Lizaveta Dubinka-Hushcha (CBS).
