17 nye udviklingsmål er ikke nødvendigvis for mange

The number of UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 reflects a lesson learned

UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon presented his Synthesis Report on the Post-2015 Agenda for sustainable development on Thursday 4th December.

The Report sees the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as offering a way to transform development outcomes over the next 15 years.

This new DIIS Impact publication points to key lessons learnt from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and priorities to address in taking governments and their peoples forward on 'The Road to Dignity by 2030: Ending Poverty, Transforming All Lives and Protecting the Planet'.

The 17 SDGs are criticised by some for being, among other things, too many. This is not necessarily a problem, the Impact argues. In fact, the number of SDGs reflects the learning process from the MDGs, including their shortcomings.

The DIIS Impact will be followed by a DIIS Policy Brief early in 2015 as momentum towards finalisation of the SDGs gathers pace.
