Although local populations are rarely allowed to influence the negotiation of oil and gas contracts in sub-Saharan Africa directly new research suggests that local populations may indirectly exercise greater agency than often depicted.

Over the past 10 years, Tanzania has undergone a major economic development coming on the heels of decades of development aid. But was that development driven by the aid received or by the market? And how does Tanzania's rural population experience life today compared to 30-40 years ago? A team of researchers revisited 37 villages and 1,100 people in search of answers. One of the methods used was to let the local population define and put into words their own experience of poverty.

Tanzania apparently doesn´t have a problem with Covid 19, because three days of prayer has made it go away. What the government does have is money from the international community to fight the virus - and money to give away at election rallies. It doesn´t add up and neither do the governments claim of dignity and sovereignty when faced with accusations over these funds
