DIIS Policy Brief

How to protect land tenure security for current land holders in Uganda?

Recommendations for how development cooperation may contribute

Land acquisitions from national and international investors, oil discoveries, population growth and policy interventions all contribute to jeopardise the current widespread perception of tenure security among land holders in Uganda. This DIIS policy brief summarises the conclusions of research undertaken in Uganda on the relationship between land tenure, tenure security, access to land institutions and economic activity, and offers six recommendations for interventions aimed to maintain, deepen and widen tenure security among current land holders in Uganda.
