The New Turkey

As part of a mini conference on the Middle East, organized by students in international politics at Aarhus University, Senior Researcher Cecilie Banke gave a lecture on Turkey since the attempted coup in July 2016, focusing on the internal developments and what to expect from Turkey in its relations with the EU. In which direction is Turkey heading? Will we see a more authoritarian Turkey following the referendum in April 2017, or will Erdogan use his executive power to continue the reforms from the early years of his tenure, Banke asked in her lecture. If this is the case, we can expect a different dynamic between Turkey and the EU.
