Policy coherence in migration-development policy and practice

Pursuing synergies in a complex field

Over the last 10 years, the links between migration and development have gained increasing attention in different international fora. Among these fora the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD) provides a global hub of knowledge and policy expertise on migration and development issues. KNOMAD activities are organized around 13 thematic working groups, the areas span from remittance flows to migrant rights and from skilled migration needs to forced migration. One working group is dedicated to assess barriers to policy and institutional coherence and suggests measures for improvement.

On June 10-11, this working group meets in Den Haag, the Netherlands to discuss a dashboard of indicators developed for measuring policy coherence for migration and development. From DIIS, research coordinator Ninna Nyberg Sørensen is affiliated with KNOMAD and participates in the meeting.
