Perilous Passage

In a recent interview with Al Jazeera’s The Stream, Senior Researcher Hans Lucht and other guests discuss the crisis in the Mediterranean and how Italy is dealing with the influx of desperate people from North Africa now approaching 100,000 in number. Lucht argues that the Italien effort to resuce them represents a remarkable turnaround in Italian politics and argues that letting them dissapear on the sea is inconsistent with longstanding European values.
