New Encyclopedia of Global Human Migration available online

A new comprehensive Encyclopedia of Global Human Migration is available online. It provides a guide to the ideas, arguments and history of migration and migration studies and discusses human mobility in its diversity and difference. The Encyclopedia consists of over 600 entries written by prominent scholars from all over the world and from several disciplinary and cross-disciplinary vantage points. DIIS senior researcher Ninna Nyberg Sørensen has contributed an essay on 'Poverty, development and migration', summarizing the debate, research and policy work carried out by DIIS migration staff over the years.

The Encyclopedia of Global Human Migration will become available also as a five-volume print set which will be published in February 2013.

The Encyclopedia is joining with Wiley-Blackwell Exchanges in the Free Exchanges Online Conference Series. 'Migration in a Changing World: Where do we go now?' will be held November 5-9, 2012. The conference will include podcast keynote addresses from leading figures in the field; scholarly articles with expert commentary; free access to journal and encyclopedia articles; publishing workshops; live Q&A with presenters.
