Current research

Marie Kongsted Møller currently explores the relationship between fascism and ecology in times of planetary disorders. The extreme right is traditionally boxed with climate denialism, but, as climatic anomalies, disasters, and their reverberations proliferate, we begin to see an ecological sensibility emerging among reactionary actors. It is not to be confused with the environmental justice that mainstream environmental movements advance. Rather, the ecological sensibility sprouting on the extreme right revives elements of eugenics, autarky and Blood and Soil doctrines. Drawing on Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s concept of microfascism, she explores how these ideas are lived and embodied among a group of local Rassemblemnet National (RN, former: Front National) members living in rural areas in South-Western France.
