Bio
Maja Greenwood's research is oriented towards the nexus of religion and militancy, and she has worked on militant Islamist movements in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Palestine, Algeria og Afghanistan. She has focused on individual experiences of joining militant islamist movements such as Hezb e-Islami, Hamas, Hash al-Shaabi, Jabhat al-Nusra og Ahrar al-Sham. Maja Greenwood followed several Danish foreign fighters for several years, as they travelled to fight in the Middle East and returned to Denmark. In relation to this study, she also dealt with dynamics of radicalisation, prevention of extremism and terrorism (CVE/PVE), as well as reintegration and rehabilitation of returned jihadist fighters.
