Field-based research increasingly involves working in complex, often insecure and ethically challenging situations. The practical, emotional and ethical aspects of fieldwork are implicated in political economies, obligations and privileges, that until recently rarely formed part of intellectual and methodological debates. Based on personal experiences and critical engagement with the field, this webinar explores the politics and challenges of conducting research in conflict-ridden situations in the contemporary world.

The webinar is the first in a planned seminar series on challenges facing field researchers.
