China’s hunt for oil to drive its fast-growing economy has taken it into conflict areas like Sudan and South Sudan, a risky venture for both the reputation and bottom line of Chinese companies.
In his book, “The New Kings of Crude,” Luke Patey, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies, explains what’s behind the push, as told through the experience of state-owned oil firm China National Petroleum Corp.
