The worlds of International Relations

Stefano Guzzini gives a semi-plenary talk at the EISA convention in Warsaw

On Friday 20 September and on invitation of the European International Studies Association (SGIR/EISA), Stefano Guzzini addressed a semi-plenary at the 8th Pan-European Conference on International Relations with a talk on the ‘worlds of International Relations’.

The talk was based on his recent article in the European Journal of International Relations where he analyzed the study of International Relations theory as being squeezed between two sides, namely between the world of politics and its reliance on practical knowledge and judgment, and the world of contemporary academia and its criteria of an empirical science. The intrinsic logics of both practices were shown to be part of, as well as obstacles to the development of a better understanding of global politics
