The EU should expand its Iran policy

Fabrizio Tassinari writes in the European Voice

As negotiations with Iran over the country’s nuclear enrichment program are set to resume, Senior Researcher Fabrizio Tassinari contributed a commentary to the newspaper European Voice. (require password)

Tassinari’s argument, based on a recent trip to Teheran, is premised on the strategic implication of the EU’s use of sanctions. He argues that, as a severe economic crisis may erode on Iran’s negotiating position, there is a window of opportunity for the EU to open up its negotiating toolkit, especially on those areas of policy where the Iranian population will be most affected by the crisis.
