Seminar series: Elections in Europe

Taking stock of the Dutch, French, British and German elections

The Euro crisis, the refugee crisis and the Brexit vote have all contributed to an inward-looking turn in the European Union. The fate of European integration appears to be decided in the member states, not in Brussels.

In a new DIIS seminar series, we take the national general elections in the Netherlands, France and Germany as a point of departure to discuss the future of Europe. The seminars are arranged in cooperation with the embassies of the three countries in Denmark and will be announced on this page as soon as they are in place.

UK General Election 2017:Britain's Brave New World

In calling a snap election, Prime Minister Theresa May set the stage for arguably the most consequential British election since 1945. Offering a fresh perspective, this event will be a wide-ranging debate which will delve deeper into the surprising election results and examine its broader implications, not only in light of Brexit, but what it means for the UK’s future place in international affairs beyond the EU.
