New technology in development and humanitarian aid

DIIS co-sponsors full-day event at Copenhagen Techfestival

Techfestival in Copenhagen brings together tens of thousands of people to discuss how new technologies shape our societies around the world.

On 8 September from 9.00-17.00, DIIS co-hosts a full-day summit in the Copenhagen Meatpacking District on how humanitarian and development actors increasingly turn to new technologies like blockchain, biometrics, machine learning or satellite imagery to help the poor.

At this ‘summit’, we bring together innovators, aid practitioners, academics and concerned citizens to take stock of current technological experiments in the global South. Everyone is invited to join a critical reflection on the ethics and impacts of new technologies, ideas of innovation as well as experimentation on poor and vulnerable communities, refugees and migrants.
