International relations and European studies in Poland - current state and prospects

Stefano Guzzini holds Junior Scholar Workshop and keynote speech at conference in Warsaw

Eight PhDs or post-docs from four countries in Central and Eastern Europe were selected for the yearly Junior Scholar Workshop at the University of Warsaw. The workshop is organized as a peer-discussion in which young scholars are providing feedback to each other and are coached for turning their papers into articles or book proposals. As last year, the workshop was led by Stefano Guzzini.

The workshop took place the day before a conference on the state of the disciplines of International Relations and European Studies in Poland. Based on an empirical analysis of scholarly publications in Polish academic journals, Leading Polish scholars discussed the state and trends of the discipline. Stefano Guzzini (DIIS) and Ben Rosamund (University of Copenhagen) gave keynote speeches on International Relations and European Studies respectively, that provided the wider European context for discussing the Polish results.
