Exploring the West in Berlin

Fabrizio Tassinari awarded one of German government's Alexander von Humboldt Fellowships

Senior researcher Fabrizio Tassinari has been awarded one of Germany’s Alexander von Humboldt fellowships for experienced researchers. As stated in the award letter, the fellowship is awarded “in recognition of previous scientific work.”

The fellowship allows the award recipients to spend extended periods of time in Germany for further research in their field. Research projects are carried out in cooperation with academic hosts at research institutions in Germany.

Tassinari will spend stints in Berlin at Humboldt University, for a total of one year. He will work on two articles on the wider Europe after the Arab spring as well as on a new book on the future of Western liberal democracy after the financial crisis.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is a foundation set up by the government of the Federal Republic and funded by the German Foreign Office, the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Economic cooperation and Development. The Foundation maintains a network of its award recipients from all disciplines in 130 countries worldwide, including 41 Nobel Prize winners.
