A tale of two Germanies: a view from Berlin

Senior researcher Fabrizio Tassinari contributed a CNN commentary on Germany ahead of elections. Writing from Berlin, he writes about two conflicting perceptions of Germany and argues that rarely have the mentality of a nation and the world’s expectations on it seemed so far apart.
In a press meeting organized by the German Marshall Fund on election day, Tassinari also spoke to the Washington Post, the Atlantic and Politico about how non-Germans, and particularly other Europeans, view German power.
