Danish Foreign Policy Review 2020

This volume includes three peer-reviewed scholarly articles, analysing different topics of relevance to Danish foreign policy:

  • Ryhor Nizhnikau and Arkady Moshes focus on Belarus - a blank spot on the European mental map despite its geographical proximity. What are the prospects for its relations with its Western neighbours, and what policy recommendations can be offered to them?

  • After some fruitful years, Danish–Chinese relations seem to be entering a new era where it will become increasingly difficult to pursue a ‘business as usual’ approach. Andreas Bøje Forsby analyses the drivers behind this less benign development.

  • Inspired by rising tension in the Arctic between on the one hand the US and on the other hand Russia and China, Mikkel Runge Olesen reviews the academic literature and formulates two scenarios for the Arctic. What would each of them mean for the Kingdom of Denmark?

In addition, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod and Minister of Defence Trine Bramsen have written fresh articles about the most topical challenges facing Denmark in their fields.

Danish Foreign Policy Review also includes a bibliography of literature about Danish foreign policy in English published during 2019.

This volume is edited by Director Kristian Fischer and Senior Researcher Hans Mouritzen.

Danish Foreign Policy Review 2020 is published on 17 June (pdf) and will be available as a book volume in August.
