Manni Crone’s research focuses on the far-right in France. She examines the visions of democracy, geopolitics, ecology and masculinity on the radical Right in France. Her research interests also include populism as well as the history of liberalism in a French context. Crone is part of the VELUX-funded research-project "World of the Right", coordinated by Vibeke Schou Tjalve.
Current research
Manni Crone’s research focuses on the far-right in France. She works on the history of the far-right as well as on its current developments. She has a particular interest in the intellectual movement of the French New Right, whose ideas, today, are feeding into a global far-right and the identitarian movement. Notably, she examines the New Right’s ideas about democracy, masculinity, geopolitics, rural and ethnic communities. She has published on movements and parties on the French far-right including Marine Le Pen’s party, Rassemblement National, and her niece Marion Maréchal’s meta-political project of gaining political power through culture war. She also works on populism and the history of French liberalism.
Projects
Manni Crone’s research on the far-right is part of the VELUX-project “World of the Right” coordinated by Vibeke Schou Tjalve.
She is also part of the research-cluster “Religion and violence”, studying violent far-right, identitarian, Odinist groups in Scandinavia.
