Since then Ms. Das has worked as a consultant in the field of development programming and planning in Asia and Africa. Her field of specialisation is governance and democratisation processes in development contexts. In July 2004 Ms. Das took leave from her consulting career and worked six months as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer for the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) in Darfur, Sudan.
