Women’s land rights and access to land in Zambia New PhD student joins the Natural Resources and Poverty UnitOn 15 July 2009, Rachel Spichiger started her PhD research project on Women’s land rights, access to land and perceptions on land tenure in Southern Africa: the case of Zambia. Funded by the Danish Social Science Research Council (Forskningsrådet for Samfund og Erhverv), the project will investigate women’s strategies of access with regard to land in rural Zambia and assess the extent to which current gender imbalance in land rights can be redressed through the promotion of statutory land tenure. Rachel is affiliated to the Natural Resources and Poverty Research Unit at DIIS and also enrolled as a PhD student at the Graduate School of International Development Studies at the University of Roskilde. She will also be affiliated to the Department of Gender Studies at the University of Zambia. |
