DIIS, Holocaust and Genocide, book collection

DIIS, Holocaust and Genocide houses the book collection in Holocaust- and genocide studies which was established in connection with the foundation of the Danish Center for Holocaust and Genocide studies in 2000. The books can be borrowed at the DCISM library.

About the book collection

The collection consists of about 2.500 titles. The book collection includes the Eric Markusen collection, which is a generous donation from the widow of Erik Markusen, who was a former senior researcher at DIIS. In addition, the collection contains other important books within the field of Holocaust and genocide studies, as well as works dealing with anti-Semitism, with war crimes and war crimes tribunals, with memorial culture and the politics of remembrance, and with issues of reconciliation, compensation, etc.

The book collection is constantly updated with important publications within the study of the Holocaust and other genocides, including publications on political mass killings and crimes committed by for example the Stalinist regime. It is supplemented by literature within the broad research areas at DIIS, Holocaust and genocide.

Loan

All the books can be borrowed at the DCISM library with the exception of a small collection of handbooks, which consists of books primarily for internal use, though in some cases the handbooks can be used at the library. The handbook collection contains encyclopedias and standard works, but also rare or fragile books that are in a condition that makes them unfit for public lending.

You can search /browse the various titles on the library's website
