The Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) has the pleasure of inviting you to an afternoon seminar on

The Meta-evaluation of the CGIAR:
Issues and Challenges for Donors and Research Institutes

Thursday, 2 December 2004, 13.00-14.30

Danish Institute for Intenational Studies
Meeting room E 2.06, Pakhuset, 2nd floor
Strandgade 71, 1401 Copenhagen K

The seminar presentation is based on an analysis of the 2003 meta-evaluation of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) conducted by the World Bank's Operations Evaluation Department. The analysis was undertaken in the context of a study commissioned to The Department of Development Research (DoDR by Danida on developmental values of international agricultural research.

The Meta-evaluation was analysed with a view to extract possible implications for Danish support for Agricultural Research for Development, particularly the division of labor and synergy between (support for) research by International Agricultural Research Centres, research at National Agricultural Research Stations (NARS) in Danida Partner countries and Advanced Research Institutes (ARIs) such as the Danish Institute of Agricultural Science (DIAS) and the Royal Agricultural University (KVL).

While the said commissioned study had a broader scope and is not yet published, this seminar and presentation focus on meta-evaluation findings, issues and challenges believed to be of relevance to the future modality of collaboration between the CGIAR system and Danish development and agricultural research institutions.
