This DIIS Migration seminar series revisits migration in the light of the current global crisis. Over the last 5-10 years it has generally been assumed that international migration contributes to social and economic development in migrant sending countries in the developing world. However, the current global financial crisis is questioning several basic assumptions.  

Spring 2009: Revisiting the Migration-Development Nexus: visions, challenges and prospects
This DIIS Migration seminar series revisits the migration-development nexus. Based on cutting-edge research and ongoing policy involvement, the seminars present current policy development as well as migrant responses and practices, questioning common sense assumptions and presenting new perspectives.
