Get an overview of seminars, papers, links to resources, and media coverage online

In connection with the DIIS migration seminar spring series: Revisiting the Migration-Development Nexus: visions, challenges and prospects, a new website www.diis.dk/migrationseminars is now online. The website presents an overview of the seminars, links to migration research resources, PowerPoint presentations and papers from previous events as well as suggested literature on seminar topics. Likewise, links to media coverage will be available online: listen to British geographer Ronald Skeldon and Senegalese sociologist Ibrahima Amadou Dia—the speakers at the seminar From Brain Drain to Brain Gain?—discuss international highly skilled migration in the radio program Agenda (The Danish Broadcasting Corporation), broadcasted March 14, 2009. Listen to the programme here

DIIS migration seminars are public seminars about current migration research. The seminars disseminate and discuss findings about migration with a wide audience. The seminar spring series critically explores visions and practices concerning migration and development. This relates not only to remittances but also to how migration and its effects are attempted to be governed—for instance in relation to highly skilled migration, diaspora organizations, sending-state policies, and conflict.
Based on cutting-edge research and ongoing policy involvement, the seminars present current policy development as well as migrant responses and practices, questioning common sense assumptions and presenting new perspectives. The next seminar is about African diaspora organizations and takes place Friday April 3, 12.30-15.30 at DIIS.
