The Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar with Miodrag Vlahovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, who will be speaking on

Montenegro and the Euro-Atlantic Community

Tuesday, 16 November 2004, 16.00–17.30

Danish Institute for International Studies

Mr. Vlahovic, by profession a lawyer with specialisation in international trade and industrial policies, was recently appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro after a remarkable political and academic career.
For the past 15 years Mr. Vlahovic has been a central figure in Yugoslavian politics. In the 1980s he co-founded the first oppositional political structure in the former Yugoslavia, the Association for Yugoslav Democratic Initiative (UJDI), and in 1991 he was one of the organisers of the first peace rally in Montenegro.
Later, Mr. Vlahovic became a member of the Montenegrin Parliament, where he served in the Parliamentary Committees for international relations, political system, and legal and administrative matters.
In a more academic vein, Mr. Vlahovic was a founding member of the Montenegrin Center for Democracy and Human Rights in 1998, and in 1999 he was appointed Director of the Center for Regional and Security Studies in Montenegro, a position he filled until his recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The seminar will be held in English.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required by e-mail to no later than 15 November 2004 at 12.00 noon. Please await confirmation by e-mail from DIIS for participation.
