Elites in the Frozen Prawn Industry in Bangladesh


 
As part of the Research Programme on Elites and the New Poverty Agenda (ENPA), this project is an examination the role and nature of elites in a sub-sector of Bangladesh second most important export industry, frozen fish foods. Production is found mainly in Khulna and Chittagong Districts and involves both modern prawn farms as well as thousands of small and marginal cultivators. Freezing, packing and export is controlled by relatively few however.
 
The Post-Doc project is funded by FFU as part of the ENPA programme and will run from 2008 until 2010.
