Greenland. Self-rule and the perspective of independenceInterview in Gazeta Wyborcza26 November 2008 senior researcher Svend Aage Christensen, DIIS, was interviewed by the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza on the consequences of self-rule for Greenland. He said that it is the job of politicians to have visions, but that nobody could tell when self-rule would become independence. He also expressed some worries that the present financial crisis might have negative consequences for the raw materials sector in Greenland, and especially of course for the oil and gas sector, in which even the greatest players to some degree are feeling technical bottlenecks and difficulties in attracting investments and loans.
