The Civil-Military Agenda
Civil-military relations in international operations. A Danish perspective
In 2008 the Danish government commissioned a study to DIIS which should come up with reflections on ‘how to further improve the concerted civil-military planning and action in international peace-support operations.’ The study should in particular take into account the Danish experience in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. 5 sub-reports and a synthesis report were all finalized by April 2009 and can be downloaded from this site. The synthesis report lays out the terrain of relevant debates and issues, and provides a Danish perspective on the various concepts of ‘comprehensive’, ‘integrated’, and ‘whole of government’ approaches to international operations. |
