Sloan, Director of the Atlantic Community Initiative, who will be speaking on Transatlantic Relations after the U.S. Elections: Crisis or Compromise?Wednesday, 20 October 2004, 15.30–17.00Danish Institute for International Studies Main Auditorium, Pakhuset, ground floor Strandgade 71, 1401 Copenhagen K Mr Sloan has been in U.S. public service since 1967 where he began his career at the Central Intelligence Agency. From 1975-1999, Mr Sloan was employed by the Congressional Research Service in a variety of analytical and managerial positions, and in April 1999, he retired from his position as the Senior Specialist in International Security Policy. During 1997-1998, he was the rapporteur for the North Atlantic Assembly’s special presidential report on “NATO in the 21st Century”. Mr Sloan has lectured and published widely on U.S. foreign and security policy and Euro-Atlantic security issues. His latest books include The Use of U.S. Power: Implications for U.S. Interests [with Robert Sutter and Casimir Yost] (Georgetown University Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, 2004), and NATO, the European Union and the Atlantic Community: The Transatlantic Bargain Reconsidered (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002).
