Ian Manners heads European Union unitFrom 1st September associate professor Ian Manners becomes senior researcher and head of the DIIS research unit Internal dynamics of the EU. Although the EU has dropped off the radar in Denmark, the demands for the EU to have better policies, to have more effective institutions, and to include more members, continue to be heard across Europe. |

| Ian hopes to contribute to raising awareness of these demands, and of the EU in general, through research aimed at analysing the internal dynamics of the EU consisting of 25 or more member states. As a hybrid political institution the EU is extraordinarily interesting, negotiating more decisions every day than most other important political institutions. In this respect, theoretically-informed and critically-relevant research located in Denmark is crucial to help citizens, policymakers, and students of the EU make sense of the future of Europe. Ian Manners was previously associate professor at Malmö University in Sweden and the University of Kent in England. |
