At last. At long last, a volume truly devoted to genocide and not primarily the Holocaust and other genocides. At last also, a systematic attempt to subject genocide to the comparative approach. The Danish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies is to be congratulated for this pioneering effort. The book should be on the shelves of all scholars and research centers grappling with the problems of genocide per se as we have entered the twenty-first century.
This is an outstanding volume which presents important new research and perspectives on genocide and the Holocaust sponsored by the Danish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. The volume combines bold and original studies with new sources of data and sophisticated reinterpretations of traditional issues in the field. This book demonstrates that the Danish Center is at the forefront of world scholarship in genocide studies.
A remarkable work which brings to Holocaust and genocide studies a creative new European voice. Most of the studies probe very new areas of knowledge and theory that have not been explored before. Well-written and edited, this book achieves a high level of maturity in scholarship of genocide. Raphael Lemkin would have been moved with pride.
