Meeting on Nordic Cooperation in Genocide Studies

April 1-2 a meeting on cooperation in genocide studies is held at the Department for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Scholars from five European countries will attend the conference.

The Department for Holocaust and Genocide Studies is hosting the 2nd meeting on Nordic Cooperation in Genocide Studies 1-2 April. The first meeting took place in Amsterdam in November 2004. At the forthcoming meeting, scholars from a number of European countries will discuss different perspectives on genocide, the latest academic developments in the field and possibilities for future cooperation.
There will be a broad range of talks and workshops on themes such as memory culture, anti-Semitism, genocide denial, international law, and truth and reconciliation. Moreover, the issue of teaching the Holocaust and other genocides will be addressed, for instance in relation to the Department’s own two education websites (www.folkedrab.dk and www.folkedrab.dk/UNG) and to the theme days for high school students which annually are organized as part of the Danish Auschwitz Day.
