Public conference on uranium in Greenland

Non-proliferation and international obligations after DK-Greenland uranium deal

As a result of the recent uranium deal between Greenland and Denmark, the Committee on Greenland is hosting a public conference tomorrow March 16 on the production and export of uranium in Greenland.

DIIS researcher Cindy Vestergaard will give a presentation on non-proliferation and international obligations related to uranium production and trade. Other presentations will focus on the economics and environmental aspects.

The hearing will take place in Landstingssalen in the Danish Parliament from 13:00-17:00. The parliamentary committees on Greenland, Defence and Foreign Policy are invited to participate as well as the committees on Mineral Resources and Conservation and Environment in Greenland’s parliament.
